<p>A bicycle hub is provided for use with tangential bicycle spokes. The bicycle hub includes a hub axle (36) an a hub body (38). The hub axle (38) has a set of spoke openings (60a, 60b). The spoke openings are circumferentially arranged around the hub body (38) and extend between the external and internal surfaces. Each of the spoke openings (60a, 60b) has an enlarged insertion portion (61) and a retaining portion (62). An internal head receiving seat (63) is provided for each of the retaining portions (62). An internal abutment (65) is preferably arranged between each of the insertion portions (61) and each of the head receiving seats (63). The external surface, the head receiving seats (63) and the abutments (65) are configured to retain the bent ends of the spokes. The external surface preferably has a flute portion (67) extending from each of the retaining portions (62).
