PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a first agent for permanent wave containing cysteine as a main component preventing flaking, i.e., deposition of crystalline cystine and presenting beautiful ridges, i.e., beautiful curves and uniform waves when getting a perm, and a method for getting a permanent wave using the same. SOLUTION: The first agent composition for permanent wave containing cysteine and the salts as a main component comprises at least N-acylamino acid or the salts and thioglycolic acid or the salts.
