PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide fired lead for colored pencils having excellent mechanical strengths (flexural strength, tensile strength, impact strength and the like) in addition to sufficient color development and satisfactory concentration of the line drawn therewith and a method of producing the same, particularly provide the fired colored lead that is suitable for sharp pencils and wood tube colored lead core pencils and a method of producing the same. SOLUTION: A formulated composition including at least a polysiloxane having the structural unit represented by general formula (I) [wherein R1 and R2 are individually an alkyl, an alkoxy, hydroxyl or siloxane group and they may be identical or different from each other], an extender and an organic auxiliary binder is kneaded, formed by extrusion and fired in a nonoxidative atmosphere and/or an oxidative atmosphere to form fired core lead body comprising silicon oxide and the extender. Then, the pores of the resultant fired core lead body are filled with colorants whereby the objective fired color lead characteristically having the open pores filled with colorants is obtained.
