There is provided a lancet assembly (10) having a holder (16) and a lancet structure (14) which is incorporated with the holder, the lancet structure (14) including a lancet member (40) having a pricking member (44) and an ejector (54) which ejects the lancet member, wherein an exposed portion of the pricking member is covered with a resin (82). In a preferred embodiment, a lancet body (46) and a covered pricking member (84) have portions mating each other so that the lancet body (46) and the covered pricking member (84) tightly engage with each other. In another preferred embodiment, at least one notch (90) is provided to the covered pricking member (84).
