PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aromatic polycarbonate resin having a specific structure which has improved thermostability in molding, oblique incidence birefringence, fluidity, a bend, etc., while maintaining excellent transparency, thermal resistance and a mechanical property, and to provide a molded product therefrom. SOLUTION: In an aromatic polycarbonate resin wherein at least 2 mole% of all aromatic dihydroxy components are α,α'-bis(4-hydroxyphenyl)-m- diisopropylbenzene, the resin and a molded product therefrom satisfy that (A) a content by percentage of a specific compound contained in the polycarbonate resin when measured by a method as defined in the text is not more than 0.05%, and (B) specific viscosity at 20 deg.C when measured in a solution which has dissolved 0.7 g of the polycarbonate resin into 100 ml of methylene chloride is in a range of 0.2-2.0. |
