PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polycarbonate for optics excellent in color stability and moldability at a high temperature and its use. SOLUTION: The polycarbonate for optics is obtained by a melt polycondensation of a bisphenol compound and a carbonic acid diester in the presence of an alkaline compound as a catalyst. It contains 30-2,000 ppm of the compound represented by the formula A below, 30-4,000 ppm of the compound represented by the formula B below, 80-8,000 ppm of the compound represented by the formula C below, has a viscosity-averaged molecular weight in the range of 12,000-18,000 and has 0.5-1.5 wt.% of a fraction component of which the molecular weight determined by a GPC measurement is 1,000 or below. |
