PURPOSE:To make it possible to light it without need for application of high voltage, by means of a low-costed and noise-reduced controller, by separately applying each voltage correspondent to each ionization potential of filler gases. CONSTITUTION:Electrons thermally emitted from a cathode 1 are moved in the direction of an anode 2 as voltage applied in between the anode 2 and the cathode 1 energizes them. While the electrons e1 have higher energy, they ionize a gas with high ionization potential (the pressure of this gas is set higher than that of the other gas,) and give rise to its excitation light emission; while they have less high energy, they ionize a gas with low ionization potential and also give rise to its excitation light emission; that is, the electrons that flow from the cathode 1 to the anode 2 have their energy varied by changing the electric potential of the anode 2. The gas for giving rise to ionization and excitation is thereby selected and two kinds of light emission can be obtained. And its lighting will not need application of so high pulse voltage as in conventional ways, and a very low-costed and noise-reduced lighting circuit is sufficient for its lighting. |
