PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable even a person riding on a wheelchair to speedily take refuge downstairs in the case of emergency by using a refuge instrument provided in a building such as for a home for the aged person or an apartment house. SOLUTION: The refuge instrument 1 for dealing with the wheelchair is composed of a pedestal 3 having a space for placing the wheelchair, a lift 6 for freely vertical-movably supporting the pedestal, a supporting member provided inside a slab while supporting the lift and a driving device 7 for vertically moving the lift.
