[Also in Division C3] A coating of polytetrafluoroethylene is applied to a filler prior to incorporating the coated filler into an aqueous dispersion of polytetrafluoroethylene and isolating the composition from the dispersion. The filler may be coated by suspending it in an aqueous dispersion of polytetrafluoroethylene and then filtering off the excess aqueous dispersion. Suitable fillers are copper, a copper alloy (e.g. bronze), aluminium, mica, glass fibre, silica gel, talcum or graphite. |
