PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make flexibly, easily and inexpensively manufacturable a master carrier having rugged patterns used for a magnetic transfer method for subjecting a slave medium, such as hard disk, to magnetic transfer of information signals, such as servo signals with good accuracy. SOLUTION: The master carrier 3 is composed of a flexible metallic disk 31 having the rugged pattern formed by electroforming a metal and peeling the same on a master disk formed with ruggedness meeting information. The thickness of the metallic disk 31 is confined to <=0.1 mm to provide the master carrier with flexibility and to enhance the adhesion property. The surface of the rugged patterns of the metallic disk 31 is preferably coated with a magnetic layer 32 and lined with a flexible reinforcing member 35.
