PURPOSE:To obtain a lubricating oil suited for use in a hydrofluorocarbon refrigerant and excellent in solubility in refrigerant, stability in refrigerant and abrasion resistance by using a specified polyalkylene glycol carbonate as the principal component. CONSTITUTION:The objective synthetic lubricating oil is obtained by using, as the principal component, a polyalkylene glycol carbonate of the formula [wherein A is 2-4C alkylene; X<1>, X<2>, X<3> and X<4> are each H, 1-8C hydrocarbon group or a group of CO-O-R (wherein R is 1-8C alkyl); (l), (m) and (n) are each 0-30; l+m+n=5-50; m+n=1-50; and at least one of X<1> to X<4> is a group of-CO-O- R]. This oil is suitable for use in a hydrofluorocarbon refrigerant such as HFC-134a refrigerant, excels in solubility in refrigerant, stability in refrigerant and abrasion resistance, and can be desirably used especially as a refrigerator oil. |
