The connector (12) is inserted in one end (13) of a first bar (10) and is fastened to a longitudinal wall (11'') of a second bar (11). Elastic sealing strips are positioned in retaining grooves of the connector with sealing ribs (16) projecting out of the grooves. Butting edges (19) of the first hollow section bar are sealed on these sealing ribs. The sealing strips may be anchored in undercut portions of the retaining grooves.
