PURPOSE: A shoe for a swash plate type compressor and the producing method are provided to secure excellent sliding property, to obtain a forced shoe of low price, and to produce the forced shoe simply. CONSTITUTION: A shoe for a swash plate type compressor is disposed between a swash plate and a piston of the swash plate type compressor. A method of producing the shoe for a swash plate type compressor comprises a forming step(S1) of forming a steel blank into a shoe product including an end product shoe and a pre size-adjusted shoe, and a nitriding step(S4) of effecting a nitriding treatment on the shoe product. A quenching treatment is not effected after the forming step.
