PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light-weight control valve type lead storage battery with decreased lead powder volume for use with a negative electrode plate by increasing utilization rate of a negative electrode active material. SOLUTION: Fibrous silica of average fiber diameter of not more than 10 μm by 0.2 to 2 percent by mass and carbon fiber of average diameter of not less than 1 μm by 0.05 to 0.2 percent by mass against lead powder are contained in paste active material for a negative electrode conventionally used, and are kneaded to form a paste active material for a negative electrode. The paste active material for the negative electrode is filled in a lead alloy collector, and is aged and dried to form a paste negative electrode plate, which is used for the control valve type lead storage battery. |
