PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pinch roller which permits a tape to travel with a low friction and is capable of achieving the stability of the tape speed, reducing the number of parts and eventually reducing the cost by improving the constitution of a plain bearing made of a synthetic resin. SOLUTION: The pinch roller P consists of a roller shaft 10 and a roller body 20 fitted onto the roller shaft 10 so as to be made freely rotatable around the roller shaft. The roller shaft 10 has a small-diameter shaft section 10a on one end side and a large-diameter shaft section 10c expanded in the diameter via the small-diameter shaft section 10a and an annular step section 10b on the other end side and has a film 11 made of a synthetic resin on the outer peripheral surface of the small-diameter shaft section 10a including the annular step section 10b, respectively. The roller body 20 consists of a cylindrical sleeve 21 made of a fiber reinforced synthetic resin, a cylindrical plain bearing section 22 made of a synthetic resin having self-lubricity and wear resistance integrally formed on the inner peripheral surface 21a across an engaging section 21b formed on the inner peripheral surface 21a of the sleeve 21 and a cylindrical elastic body 23 fastened to the outer peripheral surface 21c of the sleeve 21.
