PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic head device capable of recording signals of a higher data rate by using a 3-tap head. SOLUTION: A magnetic head device 2 has a structure such that a head part 21 having two coils 21b and 21c formed in a magnetic core 21a is fixed to a head base 22. One of the ends of the coil 21b and that of the coil 21c are soldered to small lands 23a and 23c on a printed circuit board 23, respectively, and respectively connected to a pair of differential output terminals provided in the output stage circuit of a recording amplifier by bringing the contact of a connector into contact with large lands 23d and 23f to which the small lands are connected. The other ends of the coils 21b and 21c are soldered in common to a small land 23b, the other end of a harness 25 having its one end connected to the middle drum of the ground potential is soldered to a large land 23e connected thereto, and thus the common connection part of the coils 21b and 21c is set to the ground potential. Thus, the widths of a printed circuit board 23 and a head base 22 are suppressed in the magnetic head device 2 while using the recording amplifier provided with three terminals including the ground potential and a 3-tap head.
