The image sequence segmentation method decomposes the image (E20) to different levels of resolution. Part of the resolution level is segmented (E21), not being the highest in the resolution. A dense movement field is calculated (E25) between the new digital level and part of the resolution level of a reference image in the image sequence. A second segmentation (E26) of the resolution level above the given level is carried out as a function of the first segment movement field.
