The sun bed has a head section (3) which can swivel between the flat position and a position where it is at an angle to the rest of the bed, using an arm (6) operated by e.g. a jack. Each longitudinal member of the head section is made up of two parts (4A, 4b) connected by a system of levers (8 - 10) operated by a bar (7) pivoted on the arm. This increases the distance between the slat supports (5) when the head section is raised and moves them closer together when it is lowered. An Independent claim is included for a head section as described above.
