The hinge comprises a base plate (3) fixable on a vehicle structure, and a hinge pin socket (4) with base (5) fixable on the base plate by a clamping hold-down member (9) which extends only along one edge running on one side of the base plate and base parallel to the hinge pin (7). A screw connection (12) is provided between the base plate and base (5) close to the opposite side of the base plate away from the hold down member. On at least one of the interacting bearing faces of the base plate and base between the hold down member and screw connection is a projection (13) which generates the clamping moment in the hold down member when the screw connection is tightened up.
