CASTING RECEPTABLE AND CASTING METHOD

The invention relates to a casting receptable for processing melt. The casting receptable comprises a lid (3), a shell (2), the bottom part of which is in the shape of a downwards convergent cut cone (2a), a filling opening (4) at the bottom of the casting receptable, and further a shutter plug (6) that is movable in the vertical direction by means of an actuator (7) and arranged to close and open the filling opening (4) to allow melt (5) to enter and correspondingly exit the casting receptable (1). The bottom end of the shutter plug (6) is a sharp cone in shape, and the bottom end of the shutter plug (6) extends in its closed position a distance further than the conical part (2a) of the shell, thus forming a sharp point at the bottom of the casting receptable (1) that penetrates smoothly protective slag (9) used on the surface of the melting furnace (15). Further, the invention relates to a casting method that utilizes the casting receptable of the invention.
