Method for detecting falsified fingerprints in which an image sequence (100) with a number of images (0-19) of the fingerprint to be recognized is initially captured. A differential gray-value image is obtained from at least two of the images by measuring the texture. The texture is compared to a predetermined texture to determine whether the image sequence is from a real finger or from an imitation.
