A self-propelled brushless surface cleaner (10) is provided on a vehicle having a cleaning head (40) mounted on the vehicle forward thereof having a deck (46) and a skirt (48) depending from the deck (46). The cleaning head (40) has a least one vent port (54) formed in a forward portion, and at least one suction port (56) formed in a rear portion. Nozzles (66,68) are mounted under the deck (46) for movement when liquid under pressure is sprayed therefrom. A liquid supply system (90) supplies the liquid under pressure to the nozzles (66,68). A vacuum recycling system (92) coupled to the vacuum port(56) draws air through the vent port(54) and a mixture of liquid and contaminants through the rear vacuum port(56).
