The present invention provides therapeutic compositions comprising extracts of the plant species <i>Echinacea purpurea</i> and <i>Sambucus nigra</i> and the extract(s) of at least one further plant selected from the group consisting of <i>Hypericum perforatum, Commiphora molmol</i> and <i>Centella asiatica</i>. The compositions of the invention are of particular utility in the management of inflammatory mucosal diseases of both viral and non-viral origin.
