PURPOSE: A master carrier for magnetic transfer, a magnetic transfer method, and a method for manufacturing the master carrier for magnetic transfer are provided to perform a favorable magnetic transfer to a perpendicular magnetic recording medium. CONSTITUTION: A surface of a convex part of a substrate(3a) having a pattern-shape convex part employs a soft magnetic layer(3b) of which height is d and width is w. A soft magnetic layer magnetically combined with the soft magnetic layer of the surface of the convex part and installed at the concave part between the convex part of the substrate. Therefore, magnetic transfer is preformed by applying magnetic field for transfer facing toward the soft magnetic layer at the substrate of the master carrier with contacting the convex part formed with the soft magnetic layer of the master carrier and a magnetic recording surface of a magnetic recording medium.
