OPTICAL FREQUENCY COMB GENERATOR AND ITS MANUFACTURING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To apply a high electric field to a phase-modulated part by a microwave resonator even with a low voltage. SOLUTION: The optical frequency comb generator is constituted by incorporating in a microwave resonator an optical resonator constituted by forming an optical waveguide passing a light beam causing optical resonance on an optical material substrate for light phase modulation in which refractive index is varied by application of an electric field and also providing reflecting films on two mutually opposite end surfaces. A counter electrode for applying the electric field to the optical waveguide of the optical resonator is formed on both the surfaces of the optical material substrate across a low-refractive-index buffer layer and two metallic housing which come into contact with the counter electrode across the optical resonator form cavities as the microwave resonator on both the sides of the optical waveguide of the optical resonator.
