PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a single coated optical fiber separation tool for an optical multi fiber tape which can easily separate the fiber of the multi fiber tape in a short time without damaging each coated optical fiber. SOLUTION: A tool 6 separates a multi fiber tape 1 which consists of a plurality of juxtaposed coated optical fibers 2 coated in the shape of a tape with a coating layer 3 into a single tape and removes the coating layer 3. The tool 6 is provided with: a set part 10 on which the multi fiber tape fiber 1 is placed so as to be drawn out; a plurality of pins 15 provided above the set part 10 so as to be lowered and arranged at positions corresponding to the boundaries of the coated optical fibers 2 of the multi fiber tape fiber 1 on the set part 10; a recessed surface part 16 of a predetermined curvature relatively moved in order to pinch the coated optical fibers 2 and to roll them after separating the coated optical fibers 2 by lowering the pins 15, inserting the pins into the borders of the coated optical fibers 2 and drawing out the multi fiber tape fiber 1 on the set part 10; and a convex face part 17 of a curvature greater than that of the recessed surface part 16.
