PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inspection device for an elevator governor capable of easily inspecting a governor by simple work in a narrow hoistway pit, and efficiently performing the inspection work. SOLUTION: The governor 10 is mounted in a striding state, on a hung-down curved part of an endless governor rope 9 suspended in the hoistway, a leg part 22 of an elevating means 14 is temporarily installed on the bottom of the hoistway when the governor 10 is inspected, and a fixing part 16 of the governor 10 is supported by a supporting arm 19. A screw mechanism 26 of the elevating means 15 is operated to lift up the governor 10 through the supporting arm 19, and the operating condition is inspected in a state that the governor rope 9 is demounted from the governor wheel 11. As the lifting-up work of the governor 10 can be performed by one worker, and the work can be easily performed in the narrow hoistway pit, the efficiency in the inspection work can be improved, and the cost for maintenance and inspection can be reduced.
