PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for preparing a silver halide emulsion in which monodisperse silver halide grains of a small size are continuously produced and used as nuclei in crystal growth. SOLUTION: In the method for preparing a silver halide emulsion, a mixer with a first channel through which a silver salt solution (fluid 1) is passed and a second channel through which a halide solution (fluid 2) is passed is used, wherein the two channels are disposed in such a way that parts of the channels become in contact with each other, the two fluids substantially form separate thin layers and an open boundary face is formed between the two fluids. The thickness of each of the two thin layers is 1-500μm in the normal direction of the contact interface, and silver ions and halogen ions diffuse and migrate between the two thin layers and are allowed to react with each other to continuously produce silver halide grains.
