METHOD FOR PRODUCING KNIT BRAID AND APPARATUS FOR THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently producing a spiral knit braid in high quality, remarkably practical as a constituent material such as gland packing and the like used in a spiral or ring shape. SOLUTION: A spiral braid 8 having a square cross section is brought to be produced by braiding plural knit yarns 41 at a certain combination point 6 and winding the braid with a winding shaft 9 rotating in a constant direction and axially traveling in the constant direction to forcibly transfer the braided part generated at the combination point 6 on a spiral path extending from the combination point 6. The spiral braid 8 through which a core yarn 51 passes in a braided layer of knit yarns 41 is obtained by feeding the core yarn 51 which is not interlaced with the knit yarn 41 to the combination point 6 in addition to the knit yarn 41.
