PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for simply dyeing a fiber such as a synthetic fiber and a natural fiber to a deep color without using a synthetic dye and a mordant containing a heavy metal such as chromium. SOLUTION: The fiber of a material to be dyed is soaked in a treating bath of an aqueous chitosan solution to carry out a chitosan treatment, and the fiber subjected to the chitosan treatment is soaked in a dye bath of an aqueous solution of the dye to dye the fiber.
