PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily recognize the scale of a display map area by displaying a detailed map of the peripheral area of a vehicle position, displaying a wide- area map of an area distant from the vehicle position by scale conversion or nonconversion, and displaying the scale of map data that a scale gauge mark belongs to when the mark is displayed. SOLUTION: A map image drawing part 12 draws map data of detailed scale level in an image area that the vehicle belongs to by using map data by scales stored on a CD-ROM 1. Further, map data of smaller scale level are drawn in an adjacent area by scale conversion at need and a vehicle position mark and the scale gauge mark are drawn. Further, the map image drawing part 12, when drawing the scale gauge mark across the respective image areas, draws the scale of the map data corresponding to the image area that the scale gauge mark belongs to together with the scale gauge mark and displays it on a screen. |
