A more uniform heat distribution inside a microwave oven 20 is obtained by means of an adjustable conductive member 18 which provides coupling between different modes of oscillation of the heating space. The member may be mounted (as shown) upon the input coupling structure or elsewhere in the oven. The mounting may be insulative or conductive. As shown, the member consists of a hollow conductive cylinder 18 which is rotatably mounted upon the double-loop coupling structure 10, 14a, 14b, 15a, 15b. Modifications are described in which the member is mounted upon a single-loop coupling or upon the end of probe 10. All the loops described may be angularly adjustable, e.g. in the example shown, member 14a, 14b may be rotated to desired position upon the member 10. The member 18 is not necessarily hollow or of circular section (a member of square section is described). More than one member may be used. |
