PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tire improved in abrasion resistance without detriment to fuel consumption and the ability to grip a wet road surface, and to obtain a rubber composition which can be desirably used for the tire. SOLUTION: There are provided a rubber composition comprising 100 pts.wt. rubber containing at least 70 wt.% synthetic diene rubber, 5-100 pts.wt. boehmite, 0-100 pts.wt. silica having a BET specific surface area of 130-300 m<2> /g, and 5-200 pts.wt. carbon black and a tire using the composition.
