PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a capstan device which prevents abutment of an adjacent cassette door to a rotary cylinder, etc., by the deformation of the cassette door, without providing a special guide member. SOLUTION: A capstan shaft 1 is rotatably held by a pair of radial direction bearings 2a and 2b fixed to a bearing holder 8, and a thrust bearing 12 for the capstan shaft 1 is provided at the bearing holder 8. The guide which blocks the abutment of cassette covers 10 and 11 of a magnetic tape cassette 9 to the rotary head cylinder is integrally formed at the thrust bearing 12.
