PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composite comprising a matrix and a fiber having better mechanical properties, taking the fiber length and the aspect ratio of the fiber into consideration. SOLUTION: In the composite, multiple fibers with selected fiber lengths are incorporated, based on a novel relationship among the critical fiber length, elastic moduli and aggregation energy of the fiber and the matrix. The composite may contain a means for modifying at least one of these properties in order to reduce the critical fiber length. |
