摘要 <p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing unit that can properly determines a fault in the encoding/decoding processing in encoding digital image data to store the encoded data to a storage means and decoding the encoded image data stored in the storage means to repetitively use the data. SOLUTION: An image storage section 1 allows a line data insertion section 6 to insert full white inspection line data to image data received from a memory 2 and given to an encoding section 8 by each n-line and allows the encoding section 8 to encode the resulting data, and a hard disk 5 stores the encoded data. A line data comparison section 7 determines the presence of an error in image data decoded on the basis of the inspection line data inserted to the image data read from the hard disk 5 and decoded by a decoding section 9. Thus, the image processing unit can simply and properly detect even an error image whose decoding is failed by a cause different from an encoding error such as a noise intruded to the decoding section 9 and conduct proper encoding/ decoding processing.</p>
