PURPOSE: A method for adaptively estimating a position of an MS(Mobile Station) using a GIS(Geographic Information System) and a BS(Base Station) is provided to confirm the position using a satellite when the MS mounting a satellite receiver secures a visual range with a satellite and confirm the position using the BS when the MS does not secure the visual range. CONSTITUTION: A GPS(Global Positioning System) receiver of an MS confirms whether it is possible for the GPS receiver to receive a satellite signal(301). If it is possible for the GPS receiver to receive the satellite signal, the GPS receiver tracks the satellite signal(302). The GPS receiver estimates a position of the MS(303). If it is impossible to receive the satellite signal, the GPS receiver generates a BS-based signal(304). The GPS receiver tracks a BS signal(305), and estimates a position of the MS(303).
