PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a valve timing controller of an internal combustion engine, capable of preventing the control amount from diverging and a lock pin from being unlocked unexpectedly. SOLUTION: This valve timing controller comprises actuators 15 and 16 connected to camshafts 15C and 16C, hydraulic pressure feed devices 19 and 20 for driving the actuators, and a control means 21A for changing the phase of the camshafts, relative to a crankshaft by controlling a hydraulic pressure supplied to the actuators, according to the operating conditions; the actuators comprise a locking mechanism for setting the relative phase to the lock position and an unlocking mechanism for unlocking the locking mechanism, in response to a specified hydraulic pressure; and the control means reduces a control range limit, when controlling the relative phase to be within the specified range of the lock position by driving the locking mechanism.
