PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light transmission type image recognition sensor that enables an inputted image to be transmitted through. SOLUTION: The light transmission type image recognition sensor has a first transparent substrate, where a plurality of transparent pixel electrodes are formed in a two-dimensional array shape on a surface, a second transparent substrate where a transparent counter electrode is formed on the surface, and visual pigment kind protein orientation array film and transparent insulating layers, arranged between both the electrodes. As the visual pigment kind protein orientation array film layer, orientation array film layer of bacteriorhodopsin is used.
