PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a DVD player that can switch display and non display of a caption depending on user's operations even in the case of a DVD disk on which a video image with a caption is recorded. SOLUTION: A lines detection section 37 compares two audio signals to detect the presence of lines. When the lines detection section 37 detects lines, a caption detection section 38 uses e.g. an image recognition technology to check a lower side and a right side of an image on which captions are possibly displayed to detect the presence of the caption and the position of the caption. An image control section 44 applies signal processing to the part of caption in a video signal outputted from a video decoder 40 to delete the caption from the video image. |
