1305855 Organotin compounds M & T CHEMICALS Inc 19 April 1971 [3 June 1970] 20809/71 Heading C2J [Also in Division C3] Compounds of general Formula I where X is halogen other than fluorine, R and R<SP>1</SP> are hydrocarbon radicals and n is from 2 to 20 are prepared by reacting HSR<SP>1</SP>COOH with RSn(OH) 2 X for compounds of Formula I or with -[-R(X)Sn-O-]- n for compounds of Formula II. Reaction may be effected at up to 100‹ C. in toluene or benzene. In specified compounds of Formula I, X is Cl, R is butyl, octyl, methyl, cyclohexyl or phenyl, and R<SP>1</SP> is -CH 2 -, -CH 2 CH 2 - or ortho-C 6 H 4 . Polymeric monobutylmonochlorotin-S,O-mercaptopropionate is also prepared. The compounds are used as stabilizers for halogen-containing polymers. |
