The first input gives the motor rev count required and a second input gives the desired drive speed. A third input gives the impact spacing to be compared in a controller with first and second input signals and thus form a signal product. The motor (20) drives the vibration mechanism (26) and the first input signal can be selected between two frequencies as against the third input signal which is infinitely variable, i.e. the impact spacing. The required drive speed is obtained by two gears (14) and the drive powered by a variable displacement pump (22,24).
