[Also in Division D1] A yarn singeing device comprises an outer cylinder 1 with end walls 2 and 3, an inner cylinder 6 heated by an electric wire 9 positioned in loops on ribs 8 and connected to terminals 10 and one or more intermediate cylinders, as at 11 and 12, the interior surfaces of which conserve the heat energy by inwardly reflecting heat rays. The cylinders and walls 2, 3 are shaped to provide a longitudinal slit 7 whereby a running yarn is positioned within the bore of cylinder 6 in which it runs precisely along the axis thereof or it may balloon slightly so as to brush against the heated interior surface of the cylinder. A pipeline 20 entering a cap 19 of an extension 18 of cylinder 1 supplies air and/or oxygen through channel 23 to cylinder 6 through which it flows in the opposite direction to the yarn travel.</p> |
