1,134,869. Vent plug arrangements for batteries. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. 17 July, 1967 [20 July, 1966], No. 32607/66. Heading H1B. A vent plug arrangement for a multi-cell battery provides a vent plug for each filling aperture of the battery, each plug having an outwardly directed flange engaged, in the assembled arrangement, in a mutually opposed pair of slots or recesses in a substantially rigid strap of elongated trough form bearing in its longitudinal side walls a number of such slots or recesses and thereby held in a desired position on the strap. As shown, the flange 14 of the vent plug 7 fits into a pair of slots 9 in the strap 6 which carries antisplash tubes 12. The gases escape via hole 13 and the gaps between the upper rim of the vent plug 7 and the upper edges of the slots 9. In another embodiment (Figs. 4 and 5, not shown), the flange 14 engages in recesses 15 in the side walls of the strap, slots in the base of the strap connecting with the recesses allowing the gases to escape. |
