Base stations (BS1,BS2) for first (C1) and second (C2) radio cells are beamed to a mobile station (MS) and set up to beam a download signal to the MS with a weighting vector. A set of weighting vectors is determined on the MS and the base stations. An optimum weighting vector is selected and a code word assigned to this vector is transmitted to the base stations. The beaming-out process of the download signal is weighted with the weighting vector assigned to the code word. An Independent claim is also included for a base station for carrying out the method of the present invention in a mobile telephone system.
