The invention relates to a fuel injection system (2) for an internal combustion engine (1), comprising a fuel injection valve (5) which injects the fuel into a combustion chamber (7), which is formed by a cylinder wall (13) wherein a piston (6) is guided, also comprising a spark plug (4) which protrudes into the combustion chamber (7). Said fuel injection valve (5) injects a plurality of injection jets (10) into the combustion chamber (7).
