METHOD FOR PRODUCING ZINC OXIDE AND DEVICE FOR CARRYING OUT SAID METHOD

The inventive method for producing zinc oxide consists in injecting powdered zinc contained in the flow of oxygen-containing gas in to a reaction zone. Said zone is pre-heated to a temperature ranging from the zinc boiling point to near 1250 DEG C. In the reaction zone, the powered zinc is heated and molten, the formation of zinc vapour and the exothermic oxidation thereof are carried out at a temperature ranging from 1150 to 1250 DEG C, thereby obtaining a zinc oxide aerosol and a heat liberation. The heat thus produced is conveyed to said heating, melting and zinc vapour formation stages, the powered zinc being in suspension state during the stages. Afterwards, a target product is extracted from the obtained aerosol. The inventive device for carrying out said method comprise a hermetical body (1) provided with a reaction chamber (5), a mechanism (6) for initial zinc supply to the reaction chamber (5) provided with a nozzle (8) for dosed supply of metallic powered zinc (7) to the reaction chamber (5). The longitudinal axis of said mechanism is disposed at an angle ranging from 35 DEG to 55 DEG with respect to the vertical axis of the body (1). The output orifice of the nozzle (8) is arranged under the output orifice (17) of a unit (15) for supplying the oxygen containing gas to the reaction chamber (5) in order to oxidise zinc.
