A back flushing filter for liquid media, especially lubricating oil, comprises a cylindrical filter insert with a filter surface, a cylindrical mantle (16) with penetrations (20), and a flushing unit (1). The filter insert (10) can be rotated, and has chambers (28,29) one on top of the other, which are divided into inlet and outlet chambers. The flushing member is stationary, and has an opening which can be partially closed by the mantle.
