PURPOSE: To efficiently eliminate the ink emission deficiency of a line head in low cost by providing a positioning means discriminating the position of a restoration means with respect to a head cap so that an arbitrary head unit can be opposed to the restoration means. CONSTITUTION: When printing deficiency is generated during the use of an ink jet recording apparatus, it is grasped which of head units 13 having discrimination codes R printing deficiency is generated in. Next, a head cap 14 is raised to a restoring work position from a standby position along with a cap bracket and allowed to advance toward a line head 12 to allow each of the head unit 13 to communicate with the suction port of a suction pocket in a liquidtight manner. Thereafter, the indicator 38 of an aligning knob 27 is allowed to coincide with the marked line L of the discrimination code R corresponding to the discrimination code R of the head unit 13 falling into printing deficiency and ink is sucked and discharged from the emitting orifice of the head unit 13 to perform the restoration processing of the head unit 13. |
