PURPOSE: An advanced wastewater treatment apparatus and method using metal membrane combined with intermittent back ozonation are provided to prevent membrane fouling and sludge cake deposition on membrane surface by ozone gas injection, thus keeping high membrane flux velocity. CONSTITUTION: The advanced treatment apparatus comprises a conical bottomed separation tank(10) partitioned by a partition wall(80) into influent part and filtration part, with a metal membrane module(20) being vertically inserted in the filtration part. Sewage coming down through the inlet at the top of the influent part flows outside the metal membrane module(20) to be filtered through the module(20), with the suction pump(50) sucking the filtered water through the suction line(40) to keep the module inside at a negative pressure and to discharge the water. From an ozone generator(60) installed outside, two ozone lines(70a,70b) are installed to the bottom opening of the metal membrane module(20) and to a first ozone gas diffuser(30) set beneath the opening, ozone flow is alternated to the both lines(70a,70b) at a fixed interval to back wash the in and out sides of the module(20). The excess sludge is withdrawn through the conical bottom.
